Lost Grounds

Slovenia: Bežigrad Stadium

Written by De Twaalfde Man

The Bežigrad Stadium, or also called Centralni Stadium, is the former home ground of NK Olimpija Ljubljana. It was opened in 1935 and closed in 2008, after the club was dissolved in 2004. The new Olimpija did not return to its former ground, but moved to a new stadium in 2010. Mother Nature is now owner of the old ground with its unique main terrace.

I have visited this ground twice. The first time I was able to enter because of a gap in the fence. Last weekend the entire fence was repaired and closed. So if you want to enter, you have to climb a wall or use a drone for some special pictures. Keep in mind that if you use a drone, you respect the Slovenian regulations.

Enjoy the aerial photographs.
